Acts

9th February 2006

At January’s Energise meeting we learnt all about the book of Acts, (it will take the adults all year to do the same!) We also wrote our own book of events, the “Acts of Energise” and here it is:

Chapter 1
1 At the start of the meeting Smiley Neil welcomed everyone and we did star jumps.
2 For worship Lisa led and we danced and sang. 3 We did “Jesus I love you”, “I will click” and “In the 16th verse”. 4 By the end we were very tired! 5 One child praised Jesus that she’d made a new friend. 6 Everyone else had light sabers for Christmas.

Chapter 2
1 Fran taught us all about the Book of Acts. 2 It’s a story about the apostles spreading the good news about Jesus, after he went to Heaven. 3 It’s useful for teaching us how to spread Church nowadays and also shows people who had the same struggles as we do.

Chapter 3
1 Neil and Bob were donkey-taxi drivers in Jerusalem. 2 They talked about the people they had driven around in their donkeys. 3 They had both driven around some of the disciples including Matthias, Peter, Matthew and Luke. 4 Someone had left the book of Acts in the back of Neil’s donkey. 5 From it he had learned about Jesus and the miracles that the disciples had performed in Jesus’ name.

Chapter 4
1 Lisa led the toilet-break dance with a song about creation.
2 Neil and Michael acted out a drama about Pentecost ? how after Jesus went back to Heaven the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. 3 It was very funny when they pretended their hair was on fire and exciting when they told us how the Holy Spirit filled the disciples with love and worship for God.

Chapter 5
1 Fran organised a team-game where we had to answer questions about Acts. 2 If you got a question right you could try to shoot a ball in the basketball net. 3 There were some sports questions that were tricky!

Chapter 6
1 For a craft we made little books of Acts to remind us about the stories in the Bible. 2 It tested our crafty skills to the max when we tried to fold it! 3 We’re all going to keep our books safe so that we remember the stories.

Chapter 7
1 Michael led the prayer time as we prayed for our year ahead. 2 We’re all very excited about 2006 and are all going to read as much of Acts as we can. 3 After the final reading from this book it was hometime. 4 Most of our parents remembered to collect us!

So now you know what we get up to!

Testimonies

9th February 2006

One of the children had a picture of Jesus recently; “Jesus was talking to me and he said, “Don’t be scared.” I was surrounded by beautiful flowers and there was a lion around the corner which I could hear roaring. But Jesus said to me again, “Don’t be scared, I am with you.” ”

It’s great to hear how God talks to and through children in BCF and also about answers to children’s prayers. Please could parents write down and pass any such testimonies on to Neil Davey, (details in the BCF address and mailing lists).
